It’s the television equivalant of fast food – it goes down easy, it’s fun in the dumbest possible way, and then leaves you feeling like a horrible person for having enjoyed it so much. And this season is in New Orleans, so it’s sure to be drunker and crazier than ever…We start with a fight. One of the girls throws a pan of food at Priscilla (at least I think it’s Priscilla), which inevitably leads to a fight. This shit is intense already.
First we’re introduced to Judi from Chicago, who brags that she has over 5,000 friends on Facebook. She arrives at the house first, and it’s a pretty nice pad. Judi says she’s creole, and claims the life size voodoo doll near the stripper pole.
Next, 25 year-old Priscilla from New York, who says she’s been a bad girl for life.
Next is Natashia, the California girl, but not the laid-back California type. She seems tough as nails.
Priscilla and Natasia hit it off on the limo ride to the house. Perhaps an early alliance?
Tiara arrives, a midwestern girl from Indiana, who says she’s fun but tough. What kind of name is Tiara? She meets Natasia and Priscilla, and Natasia says thinks she’s going to get along with Tiara.
Judi has a feeling the voodoo doll is going to be her only friend.
Angelic from da Bronx, is a go-go dancer. Angelic and Judi meet and seem to get along. They kick off a season of drinking with some beers.
Shelly is the blonde lesbian, who warns that girls shouldn’t show her their weaknesses to her. Time for shots. Already, there seems to be even more drinking than normal on Bad Girls Club.
Tasha is 23 and from Miami, she’s the bratty rich girl type of bad girl.
The rest of the girls arrive at the house and everyone starts partying and having a good time. Tasha predicts that the season will be drama and craziness. Well, yeah. This is the Bad Girls Club.
The girls go to Bourbon street for their first night out. Dancing and bad music, test tube shots and Judi hitting on some guy. Shelly complains that she’s not hanging with the rest of the group. Shelly claims she can’t room with Judi because she doesn’t act like part of the family. I believe we’ve found the whiny one in the group. Judi tries to freestyle in the cab on the ride home, and Shelly decides that she’s insane. Shelly calls out Judi for ditching the group and Judi breaks a glass. When she asks her if she’s crazy she says “maybe so.” Soon there’s a little fight.
Natasia is annoyed by Judi’s drama. Shelly says she wants to tape Judi’s mouth shut. Judi refers to herself in the third person: “What did Judi do to anybody?”
Judi calls Shelly a phony-ass ho. She gets up in her face with the voodoo doll. And then speaks gibberish and walks away.
Shelly and Priscilla escape the drama for a cigarette.
Angelic thinks the other girls are jealous of Judi. They seem to have formed a partnership already and run amok causing mischief.
Pricilla goes after the voodoo doll and Judi is pissed. Shelly inserts herself into the situation. Shelly spits at her and Natasia and tells Angelic to shut up.
Shelly takes down Judi’s picture and destroys it.
Judi spits on the other girl’s pizza in a splendid display of maturity.
The other girls eat the spit-pizza. Shelly throws Judi’s shit in the pool. Judi tries to take down Shelly’s picture but can’t. She tells Angelic not to eat the spit-pizza. Angelic punches out Tasha’s picture.
Tasha and Nastasia get along. Angelic tells Tasha that she punched out her picture, but that it’s alright because she respects her. Um, okay? Angelic asks Tasha to cuddle with her.
Shelly gets in Judi’s face and Natasia steps in to keep the peace. She shares that her nickname is mother. I think she may be the last one standing.
Meanwhile, Tiara seems to think it’s necessarry to explain what WTF means.
Judi tells Shelly that she spit on the pizza, and Shelly throws a drink on her. Then, Tiara pours a bottle of wine on her while she tries to catch as much as possible in her mouth. Judi then claims that she’s a celebrity and jumps in the jacuzzi with all her clothes on.
Priscilla confronts Judi in an attempt to be real with her.
Shelly and Judi go at it again and someone has to pull Shelly off Judi. One of these two will probably be the first thrown out of the house.
Judi screams that Shelly needs to be thrown out of the house.
Natasia, Priscilla and Shelly leave the house for a hotel. Judi fucks up Shelly’s bed, or what she thinks is Shelly’ bed, but it’s actually Tasha’s best. She breaks a picture from above the bed and places the glass in the bed. I don’t think Tasha will be happy.
Last night’s episode was quite the roller coaster. Our bad girls tear up an all-male strip club, Flo finds a slice of bi-heaven, and Natalie tries to break Annie but ends up breaking down — oh, and punching Kendra in the face for reasons that remain unclear. That ambiguous limo scene elicited a big “Woah, that escalated quickly,” from my wine-stained lips. (“Hey, did I mention I run LA?”) The episode ends in limbo as Natalie leaves the house, but only for the night. Will the house take her back?
Now for my personal highlights: Flo’s “fudge check,” which seems more fitting for a Bad Boys Club but, hey, it’s still inappropriate and thoroughly entertaining. When Kendra was having sex withdrawals and proclaimed herself the horniest girl in the house, I realized she’s growing on me; I like her more and more. And, yes, Annie is neurotic and should most likely be seeing a therapist on a daily basis, but at least she’s up front about her compulsions, which is more than I can say about some of the girls.For those who watch the “Bad Girls Club” faithfully, every season the “message” of the show has noticeably changed. With one season lasting three months out of the year, each year different girls set foot in a new mansion. The first three out of the six seasons were about helping women with anger problems and also issues that relate to getting along with females. They would take these girls through a journey of learning how to cope with their inner self and get over having to lash out to have their emotions shown.
As empowering as that sounds, while the shows went on and the fights grew more frequent, more people started tuning in to see the fights and the confrontations rather than watching these women get better. After watching the sixth season, it is apparent that confrontation definitely outweighs the progress of these girls.
Commonsensemedia.org states in their review of “Bad Girls Club” that “Catfight chaos send negative message about women”. Even though the message of the show is not entirely uplifting, the disagreement of having these females represent ALL is justified.
